May Soundbath Dates
the importance of knowing who you are
Thank you for being here. We have a lot of chances to connect in May, and I am really looking forward to sharing sounds with you/seeing what arises.
A few highlights:
I am thrilled to be teaming up with The Cocoon Experience for the first time this month. After a short Cacao experience, you get wrapped up in a silk cloth hanging from the ceiling, where you hang, all tucked in, as I share sounds. Dreamy right? There are only a few slots left!
For the first time ever, I’ll be sharing sound at bode’s flatiron studio in Manahattan! We have been having so much softness on the UES, we wanted to spread the magic. This was the first yoga studio where I went to practice when I moved to NYC, so this is a special one for me.
PHILLY! The band and I cannot get enough of you. We have teamed up with Tree Symbol Collective (donnie coco, Cellysao, Sovei and Sean) and Looking Pool to bring The Seventh Gate Soundbath experience to the gorgeous Studio 34. This venue is so special and we need lots of help filling the room - if you have a friend who you think would love to join us, please invite them!

Do you think you know who you are?
How would you describe yourself? Make a mental list, or a physical one. What are your traits? Your attributes? What are the margins of these definitions?
Take a step back, and observe yourself. Did these descriptions come from
decisions you have made
ways others have reflected to you
societal pressures
Don’t frettttttt….there is nothing wrong with any of this, but…it is worth asking… if these three things have a hand in “who you are”… is it really …naturally, who and maybe more importantly what you are?
Walking around in this cute little meat suit requires making these decisions about our personalities. But we need to be very clear - WE ARE CHOOSING EVERYTHING. There is an existentialism to this that makes these choices seem arbitrary and silly…but
Make no mistake- our choices matter. The versions of ourselves we decide to curate and cultivate in this lifetime are very important because we affect one another. We affect the planet. It is vital to choose wisely, kindly and compassionately as we operate in this life. In fact, our ability to make these decisions can be an indicator of our relationship with our truest selves.
Back to existentialism…. it is perhaps more important to remember that we have no idea who/what we are. Because this simulation of traits, likes/dislikes etc is full of distractions and has us operating pretty far from reality at this point in the western world.
The true nature of our essence is something limitless that moves beyond our tiny brains’ ability to explain, define, and categorize. And in that space everything is possible. I could go on and on about the blob we are - united in one consciousness splintered out into tiny fractals seeking more and more information to benefit the whole…but we’ve all heard it a trillion times.
the short version is…you could change your entire external set of circumstances in a moment and still this deeper who and what you are would not change at all. It would simply be. And be connected to EVERYONE else.
Making sound reminds me of this every time. It has become a bit unnerving because at times I feel more connected to the part of me that is not “me” anymore… the part that just exists hearing and feeling and vibrating. Elly falls away. and its terrifying/liberating enough that she snaps back in to fear making others feel uncomfortable in the swimmy nature of the truth.
My eyes catch other eyes and linger too long - accessing a deeper connection that the other person may or may not be consciously aware of… its my job a little bit to wisely assess if that person is ready to meet me there or not and act accordingly in my own meat suit. This is perfect, but something that requires skills of me in my “Elly choices”.
All is well. All is in flux. We have no idea who we are and that is as it should be. Its beuatiful!
And also…from there, our choices matter ten fold. If we are’nt careful we can take on any action, any perspective. We must be diligent and devoted to choosing our actions based on what that limitless version that we can’t see might need.
This takes something I struggle with a lot… faith. Trust.
You all help me with that. You may have sensed so nervousness above about sharing this part of myself….well, everytime I have done so, you all catch me. Whether its at the live shows, soundbaths or here online. I hope I am catching you too. And that we can all keep deepening and awakening and collectively fearing our limitlessness together until it isn’t so scary anymore.
Love,
e
***MONTHLY MERCH ANGELS
This month’s merch angels are Molly and Hilary, who both grabbed an “im a handful” crewneck at our recent duo set in Brooklyn. It was a cold, rainy evening and by some stroke of luck we managed to do a show on the gowanus canal in a cute little recording studio without any flooding! :)
Molly is perhaps one of the kindest people I know, her social media is all full of her volunteering to clean up the neighborhood etc, she was telling me she loves to cheer on the half marathoners outside her apartment and everytime I see her and her partner Sam’s face at a soundbath it makes me so happy! They are in a band together called Little Slugger that is so worth checking out - the shows are delightful!
Hilary has a heart of deep blue ocean water - she feels SO deeply and will drop everything to save an animal in pain- literally at the side of the road. An incredible healer in her own right, her latest kitty rescue 17 year old Marcy has been nursed back to health in just a few short months. I am lucky to call her friend, and she has been helping me so much as I put together a book (!!!) of sound healing wisdom for you all.
If you wanna join the incredible people wearing this sweatshirt, and help me make more music (studio dates in the books!) grab yours here!
Thank you all so much
<3 E
